Our Special Projects team, lead by Danny Barber, was instructed to provide Structural Engineering services at this private dwelling in Yardley Gobion.
Temporary propping was amended to suit the contractors proposed sequence of works. JPP issued sketch proposals for the revised temporary propping for the contractor’s comments. JPP issued final comments on the beam & block floor layouts. Our team also provided details of additional lintels required to support the first floor corbelled chimney above the old dining room.
JPP provided details for replacement first floor joists above the old dining room and advised of possible remedial details to strengthen the ends of the rotten joists in lieu of replacing the entire joist. We issued updated temporary propping drawings & calculations for the proposed sequence of works and commented on superstructure cracking which had occurred during the works and confirmed that this was to be expected with works of this nature. All cracking was made good on completion of the works. JPP confirmed that underpinning would be required to the external wall of the old dining room.
