Group Directors

I joined JPP in 1998 as a graduate engineer and was invited to join the board of directors in 2012. I lead the infrastructure design teams in JPP consulting in our Northampton and Manchester offices. I specialise in highway and drainage designs with a particular interest in the continued development and improvement of our BIM capabilities. I am currently Chairman for the Northamptonshire branch committee of the Institution of Civil Engineers and manage our ICE Approved training schemes for staff progressing to membership.

I joined JPP Consulting in 1999 as a trainee technician, but with the ongoing support of my peers I continued through university obtaining a first-class degree in Civil and Structural Engineering, before becoming a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. My expertise in structural engineering has enabled me to develop a varied client base, contributing to the growth of the company, which has allowed me to progress through the ranks to position of Director.

I have four children who keep me occupied full time when I’m not working and, rather than playing rugby, I now prefer to watch from the touchline.

“Relationships control the flow of money more than core competencies or deliverables” – Dan Kennedy

With over 30 years of surveying experience I think that the personal touch is as important to client relationships as the final deliverable. The majority of our work is commissioned on a repeat basis from satisfied customers who recognise our professionalism; accuracy and commitment. We work with our clients to provide what they want, but also to seek out that little extra that may provide that small commercial advantage over their competitors.

Profile to be updated very soon.

I joined JPP at the end of October to direct and grow the Structural Engineering services that we offer to our clients. I have a strong background in both civil and structural engineering design and management, with a wide range of client and sector experience. I have over 17 years Chartered experience under my belt, being a Chartered Member of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers. My technical ability combined with commitment to finding the ‘best’ solution for projects has held me in good stead for working closely with clients and dealing with challenges pragmatically. I started my career as a designer for civil and structural works within the water industry under traditional Conditions of Contract. With  the sea change to Design and Build procurement I developed my technical and managerial skills further working closely for both end client and contractor on a number of projects within Major Rail, Logistics, Manufacturing and Built Environment projects. One highlight of my career was working on the International Broadcasting Centre for the 2012 Olympic Games. It was here that I initially headed up the design for the building foundations and then moved on to control all aspects of the substructure, superstructure and civil engineering aspects of the building, which was published in the Structural Engineering flagship magazine at the time. Having worked at a number of consultancies, ranging in staff numbers, and having overseen multiple discipline teams at various national offices, I have come on board to offer new ideas and generate healthy discussion on the way that JPP can operate to best serve its customers, offering value for money, whilst also maintaining a stable core of technical excellence.

I joined JPP in 2016 as Regional Director having previously held various senior posts with a number of large, multi-disciplinary consultancies. These included a Board role with Gifford creating and leading their environment, development, planning and energy businesses and subsequently acting as market lead Director for Ramboll (UK) Ltd for their pre-planning development business.

Prior to my national roles I instigated and led the Gifford offices in Chester, Manchester and Birmingham managing structural and building services engineering teams and in a project director / project manager role I have been involved, and developed technical expertise, in a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, defence, energy, historic buildings and commercial development.

Away from JPP my interests still include both playing and watching sport, travel and watching my 3 adult children travel the world!

I joined The John Parkhouse Partnership in September 1986 and hold the enviable distinction of being the longest serving employee of the practice.

I am experienced across the multiple aspects of Structural & Civil Engineering disciplines from small housing projects to multi-storey framed structures. I was made a Director of JPP Consulting in February 2016 and am looking forward to promoting steady growth of the company whilst valuing our current client base, which results in a large degree of repeat business.

Outside of the office, my interests are varied but mostly revolve around my family.

Profile to be updated very soon.

I am a keen and practical engineer, who prides himself on being able to balance the sometimes very scientific side of my profession with other very important factors such as buildability, and not least economy. A strong background in different disciplines gained over my time in the industry means I am able to confidently deal with various aspects of a single scheme, and provide clients with the single point of contact which JPP as a company always aim for.

I am a motivated team leader, passionate about getting others involved in all aspects of engineering.  I have the ability to converse with the general public, contractors, clients and other professionals, and clearly explain what issues are being faced and how to resolve them, allowing all parties to draw together to achieve the common goal.
